Abstract
In this paper, I develop the broad outlines of an investigation which analyses the sense and the meaning of the concepts of “common good” and “general interest” in the rhetoric of presentday government. I will also try to respond to the question of whether both concepts are perfectly interchangeable in the public debate or, on the contrary, the concepts in fact derive from antagonistic backgrounds.
