One of the charges laid against the narrative approaches which argue for narrative self-constitution is that of the vicious circle. If a self is a story which someone could tell, and this self is author of its own tale, we are trapped in a circular argument. This article aims to evaluate the different answers to this problem given by the contemporary narrative approaches discussed, which are based on the search for a foundation for this narrative self external to the vicious circle.es_ES
