Palabras y actitudes de mujeres de la Cataluña bajomedieval ante las violencias e injusticias

Abstract

En la documentación catalana bajo- medieval abundan los testimonios de mujeres maltratadas, mujeres de todas las edades que sufrían vejaciones y palizas de los hombres que tenían a su alrededor: padres, abuelos, maridos, etc. En este artículo, nos hemos fijado, sobre todo en la documentación judicial y los reque- rimientos notariales, para seguir la pista, no solo a los malos tratos que padecieron algunas muje- res, sino también a las actitudes que adoptaron ante tales agresiones. A través de las diferentes etapas de la vida de las mujeres, se analizan las circunstancias de los malos tratos que sufrían: desde los esponsales de matrimonios forzosos hasta la viudedad y las segundas nupcias. ---------------------------------------------------------- The aim of this article is to reveal examples of battered women that abound in Catalan documentation from the Late Middle Ages. These women of all ages suffered humilia- tion and physical abuse of parents, grandparents, husbands, etc. It is paid special attention to judicial documentation and notary requirements in order to study not only the examples of the abuse they suffered, but also the attitudes that these women adopted against such violence. Through the different stages of women's lives, it is analyzed the circumstances of the abuse suffered: from betrothal and forced marriages to widowhood and remarriage.
