La reforma de san Pío X y la Liturgia: «sabe vivir bien, quien reza bien»

Abstract

St Pius X had immense pastoral zeal, which filled him with the desire to bring all human beings to Christ and to restore all things in Him. For him, worshipping God and serving people went hand in hand. How are the concepts of reforming society and reforming the Church and the liturgy articulated in his thought? After presenting his concept of reform, we shall examine his vision of the liturgy and his liturgical program, which touches on access to the sacraments, promoting and fostering liturgical singing, and the reform of the Divine Office. We believe that his thought is encapsulated in his own words: «he who prays well lives well».

San Pío X está dominado por el celo pastoral, que le lleva a querer llevar a todos a Cristo y fundar en él todas las cosas. Para él culto a Dios y servicio a los hombres, van íntimamente unidos ¿Cómo se articulan orgánicamente en el pensar y en el obrar de Papa Sarto reforma de la sociedad, reforma de la Iglesia y Liturgia? Tras presentar su ideal reformador, nos acercamos a su visión de la Liturgia, pasamos a desarrollar su concreto programa litúrgico, que toca el acceso a los sacramentos, el cuidado y fomento del canto litúrgico y la reforma del Oficio Divino. Creemos que su pensamiento se refleja muy bien en la sentencia por él citada: sabe vivir bien, quien sabe rezar bien.
