Epigrafía, ordenación del territorio y poblamiento en territorio de "Vascones": Los Bañales (Uncastillo, Zaragoza)

Abstract

El yacimiento arqueológico de Los Bañales de Uncastillo (Cinco Villas de Aragón), enclavado en el área oriental del antiguo solar que las fuentes antiguas atribuyen a los Vascones ofrece una inusitada concentración de testimonios arqueológicos y epigráficos de notable valor para reconstruir el modelo de ocupación, sociedad y organización territorial de una ciuitas romana del conuentus Caesarugustanus. Objeto de estudio y excavación en los años cuarenta y setenta del pasado siglo, el yacimiento carece todavía de un estudio de conjunto que ponga en relación sus datos arqueológicos y epigráficos y que lo integre en la romanización de la zona. Ése es el objetivo de las páginas que integran el presente artículo, resultado de una intensa prospección arqueológica y epigráfica del lugar así como de un estudio pormenorizado del material arqueológico procedente de su entorno. Se plantean, como resultado, algunas hipótesis sobre la reducción del yacimiento a alguna ciuitas de las mencionadas en las fuentes, sobre el que debió ser su territorium de influencia y sobre la integración del mismo en el solar vascón.

The archeological site of Los Bañales de Uncastillo (Cinco Villas de Aragón), sited in the oriental part of the territory that ancient literary sources tribued to the Vascones, offers such an unusual as useful concentration of archeological remains and epigraphic testimonia in order to rebuild the occupation model, the society and the territorial organization of a Roman ciuitas located in the north part of the conuentus Caesaragustanus. Studied and excavated in the fourties and in the seventies of the last century, until the date the site has not been analyzed from a global point of view that link the archaeological with the epigraphic data and that put those in connection with the romanization of the whole area. The purpose of the following paper is to complete this study. The investigation, however, is based in a complete review of the archeological an epigraphic evidences. Also, the papers suggests some hypothesis about the identification of the site with some of our still not located ciuitates of the ancient sources, about its territorium and about itself integration in the Vascones area.
