Polianteas y otros repertorios de utilidad para la edición de textos del Siglo de Oro

Abstract

Los autores de los siglos XVI-XVIII, aparte de procurarse ayudas personales extraídas de sus lecturas (codex escerptorius, cartapacios) contaban con el auxilio de obras que la imprenta se apresuró a difundir a las que acudían en busca de erudición para ornar sus discursos, para resolver dudas o para hallar en ellas fuentes de la inventio. De estos materiales (enciclopedias, polianteas, florilegios, diccionarios de distintas clases), algunas son obras bien conocidas, pero otras han sido relegadas al olvido y es necesario tenerlas en cuenta cuando nos proponemos hacer en nuestros días ediciones de obras de autores del Siglo de Oro para ponderar en su justa medida la erudición del autor y advertir las posibles influencias de estos repertorios del saber humanístico. The authors of the XVI-XVIIIth centuries, apart from getting personal helps from their readings (codex escerptorius), used to have the search of erudition to ornate their speeches, to solve their doubts or to find in them sources of the inventio. Of these materials —encyclopaedias, polianteas, anthologies, different types of dictionaries—, some are well-known works, but others have been banished from memory and it is necessary to take them into account when we try nowadays to do editions of works by Golden Age authors, in order to fairly weigh the author’s erudition and to notice the possible influences from these indexes of humanistic knowledge.
