Abstract
This introduction explains the impact the Jewish and Islamic traditions had on Medieval philosophy as well as the intellectual exchange that took place between Abrahamic traditions. The role of the Islamic tradition was particularly important, since the philosophical theories and ideas of thinkers such as Avicenna, Averroes, Avempace, and others, were repeatedly discussed and frequently reinterpreted, adapted and adopted by many Christian and Jewish theologians and philosophers. These made valuable use of these theories and ideas and employed them in different ways in a wide array of discussions, as shown in the presentations of each of the articles in the present volume.
