Ausente-Presente: las dos caras de José Antonio (1936-1938)

Abstract

Durante la guerra civil, la muerte fue considerada un recurso precioso para legitimar y consolidar la posición de los sublevados. A mayor importancia del difunto, mayor sacraliza-ción y legitimación de la guerra y de Franco. José Antonio fue el difunto más importante que produjo la guerra civil. A partir de su recuerdo fueron tejidas todo tipo de historias, llegando a extremos de leyenda. La Iglesia y la Falange —del bando «nacional»— fueron activos protagonistas en la tenaz disputa de las llamadas «políticas de la muerte».

During the civil war, death was con-sidered a precious resource to legitimize and consolidate the position of the rebels. The greater importance of the deceased, the greater sacredness and legitimacy of the war and of Franco. José Antonio was the dead most im-portant of the Civil War. From his memory they were woven all kinds of stories reaching ex-tremes of legend. The Church and the Falange were active players in the «National» side, active players in the persistent dispute of the so called «death policies».
