Antecedentes a los Acuerdos entre la Santa Sede y la República de Croacia

Abstract

En este trabajo se pretende encontrar justificación a los fundamentos de hecho recogidos en los vigentes Acuerdos entre la Santa Sede y la República de Croacia. En tales considerandos se reconoce el papel insustituible de la Iglesia Católica en la educación del pueblo croata, en concreto su papel histórico y actual en el campo social, cultural y pedagógico. Mediante un recorrido por sucesivos acontecimientos y testimonios –desde la cristianización de los croatas hasta su independencia, pa- sando por distintas monarquías, la dependencia de Austria y las dos Yugoslavias– se pueden reconocer las normas y acuerdos que constituyen los antecedentes histórico-jurídicos de los Acuerdos firmados en 1996 y 1998.

The purpose of this paper is to establish the justification for findings of fact in the Treaties between the Holy See and the Republic of Croatia, which recognize the unique role of the Catholic Church in the education of the Croatian people over history and in social, cultural and educational terms. A chronological overview of events and testimonies (from the Christianization of the Croatian people to independence, via the history of various royal fami- lies, the period of political dependence on Austria, and the two Yugoslavias) is used to frame the agreements and rules that functioned as historical and legal precedents to the Treaties signed in 1996 and 1998.
