dc.description.abstract | This paper examines John McDowell’s minimal empiricism and its relation with the philosophy of knowledge in the realist tradition. In this summary I consider intentionality. A comparison is made between Aquinas’s and Polo’s reflections on that matter, and McDowell’s idea that experience has a conceptual content that allows a rational connection between impressions and thoughts. McDowell’s claim that thinking is directed towards the world and that we can achieve a knowledge of things, as well as his rejection of the notion of an intermediary between mind and world, are close to the realist notion of intentionality, according to which we know through formal signs that instead of constituting themselves things or entities, consist in the pure act of directing towards actually existing things. | es_ES |
| es_ES |
