Religiones no cristianas y Vaticano II: Nostra aetate y el Magisterio posterior

Abstract

La «Declaración de la Iglesia sobre las religiones no cristianas» (Nostra aetate) es un documento que, junto al n. 16 de la «Constitución Dogmática sobre la Iglesia» (Lumen gentium), ha abierto caminos de diálogo y una nueva visión de las religiones. La historia de la redacción de ambos documentos del Vaticano II es básica para comprender sus enseñanzas, así como su influencia en el Magisterio posterior. En este artículo se abordan ambas cuestiones, con el objetivo de entender mejor cómo se relaciona la plenitud de la revelación de Jesucristo con lo que de «verdad y bien» hay en las religiones de la tierra.

Nostra aetate, the Declaration on the relation of the Church to non-christian religions and Lumen gentium, n. 16, opened new paths for dialogue and a renewed vision of the other religions. Analyzing the drafting of both documents of Vatican II is essential to understand its teachings and their influence on the subsequent Magisterium. This paper addresses both issues, in order to understand better the relation between the fullness of the revelation of Jesus Christ and the elements of «truth and good» present in the religions of the earth.
