Lectura del soneto “Lo que me quita en fuego me da en nieve” de Quevedo: entre tradición y contextos

Abstract

El análisis del soneto, que es precedido por la reconstrucción del motivo de la mano que cubre en la tradición poética de Petrarca a Cetina y Groto, y al cual le sigue una sintética reconsideración de la metáfora del volcán en la poesía amorosa de Quevedo, quiere demostrar cómo el más trillado convencionalismo de la antítesis generadora del texto (fuego / nieve) resulta rescatado por el comentario ingenioso con que se manifiesta la circunstancia anecdótica ilustrada por el mismo soneto. The analysis of this sonnet, which is preceded by the reconstruction of the motif of the hand that covers (a tradition from Petrarch to Cetina and Groto), is followed by a concise reconsideration of the metaphor of the volcano in Quevedo’s love poems. The study aims to show how the worn-out convention of the antithesis (fire / snow) is redeemed by the ingenious comment by which the anecdotic circumstance illustrated by the sonnet itself is manifested.
