La narración fotográfica del proceso constructivo de la catedral de León (1869 - 1879)

Abstract

León Cathedral in the nineteenth century, suffered great restoration carried out by several architects including the figure of Juan de Madrazo and Kuntz, architect director of the restoration work in the period (1869-1879). In this period a series of photographs related to the environment of the cathedral and also related to the restoration of this cathedral is done. The photographs bring us in history a constructive process that allows us to appreciate the architectural development of the works, and the use of the mechanisms used in execution. Photographs related to the restoration of the cathedral, are made as an illustration of the latent reform that was running, and in turn are created evolutionary stages of the construction process of architecture, and thus making a photographed series that allows form as an explanatory guide the course of the work carried out. The selection of photographs is done by a group of three types: the environment in which an overview of the existing building, the construction process of restoration and finally the materialization of the building is observed. This photography project presented demonstrates the ability of photography and early nineteenth century as an architectural sample showed a constructive process.

La catedral de León, en el siglo XIX, sufrió la gran restauración llevada a cabo por varios arquitectos entre los que destaca la figura de Juan de Madrazo y Kuntz, arquitecto director de las obras de restauración en el periodo comprendido entre (1869-1879). En este periodo se realiza una serie fotográfica del entorno de la catedral y de la restauración que se hace de dicha catedral. Las fotografías nos aproximan en la historia a un proceso constructivo que permite apreciar el desarrollo arquitectónico de las obras, así como la utilización de los mecanismos empleados en la ejecución. Las fotografías relacionadas con la restauración de la catedral, se realizan como ilustración de la reforma latente que se estaba ejecutando, y a su vez se van creando etapas evolutivas sobre el proceso constructivo de la arquitectura, y haciendo de este modo una serie fotográfica que permite conformar a modo de guía explicativa el transcurso de las obras efectuadas. La selección de fotografías se realiza mediante una agrupación de tres tipologías: el entorno, en el que se observa una visión global del edificio existente, el proceso constructivo de la restauración y por último la materialización del edificio. Este proyecto de la fotografía presentado demuestra la capacidad que la fotografía ya a comienzos del siglo XIX, demostraba como muestra arquitectónica de un proceso constructivo.
