The Revista Nacional de Arquitectura included in its July 1955 issue a large report about the hotel Bahía Palace. Located in the Paseo Marítimo of Palma and designed by Francisco J. Goicoechea and Jacinto Vega, it was the first contemporary touristic lodging in Mallorca. The description of the building was accompanied by ten photographs that constitute an exceptional document for knowing the equipment as it was in its origins. But any of them was signed, and the photographer’s name didn’t appear in the captions. Research in the photographic collections of the Estudio Rul·lan preserved in the Arxiu del So i de la Imatge de Mallorca has brought to light a report about the hotel formed by 172 negatives in which are the ones used in the Revista Nacional del Arquitectura. The images show the exteriors and the more representative rooms as well as other places such as the reception, the boutiques and all kind of furniture and ornamentation details that are usually unnoticed in touristic architecture photography. Considering the relevance of the building as an antecedent of the touristic boom, the paper questions if the objective of the photographic work was to announce the hotel among construction and tourism promoters and professionals or if it was addressed to a wider audience as the images were also used in advertising. That case questions the intentionality and the uses of architecture photography focused on tourism and the multiple ways through which the images spread. At the same time, it evidences the existence of a huge volume of photographic heritage that remains unknown or anonymous.es_ES
