Abstract

Presentamos un recorrido a través de escenas de infancia en la fotografía de calle; un atlas de imágenes, una antropología visual de lo urbano, que nos sumergirá en la búsqueda de un tiempo y espacio acaso “perdidos”. A lo largo del siglo XX, grandes fotógrafos capturaron instantes de encuentro entre el niño y la calle, cuando ambos mundos se pertenecían; descubrieron así los relatos vivos de la ciudad, documentando las prácticas espontáneas de los niños que la habitan. Frente al sueño de los situacionistas y su manifiesto utópico de la ciudad como un playground, el fotógrafo es un peculiar transeúnte de la calle que ofrece su registro efectivo de la experiencia vital de la ciudad en su encuentro con los niños; se detiene en el instante y testimonia la realidad cotidiana de sus juegos desvelando una ciudad invisible. Atravesando la realidad por el viento de lo imaginario, el mundo de la infancia nos ofrece sus experiencias de lo urbano desde la deriva lúdica. Implicando ‘al cazador y su presa’ al unísono, el momento que ‘la fotografía conserva’ ofrece un encuentro privilegiado entre el ojo que mira y el momento capturado; contiene una emoción que entra en resonancia con el espectador provocando ecos, reflejos biográficos sobre el espejo de la imagen: incidiendo en nuestra propia memoria, emerge un imaginario colectivo. Pero esta retrospectiva sucede mientras rige la actual prohibición de fotografiar a niños y niñas que apenas transitan una calle que ya no es suya: la negación de su propia ausencia. Iniciamos así el nuevo siglo, protagonizado por la heterogeneidad de contextos con imágenes que circulan por otras redes y según nuevos códigos.

We present a route through childhood scenes in the street photography; an atlas of images, a visual anthropology of the city, which will immerse us in the search for a time and space maybe lost. Throughout the 20th century, great photographers captured moments of contact between the child and the street, when both worlds belonged to each other; they discovered the living stories from the city by documenting the spontaneous practices of the children inhabiting it. Facing the dream of the Situationists and their utopian manifesto of the city as a playground, the photographer is a peculiar passer-by of the street that offers his effective record of the vital experience of the city in his encounter with the children; by his way of looking, the photographer is able to show the everyday reality of the children games, revealing an intangible city. The world of childhood offers their urban experiences through his own ludic drift, crossing the reality by the wind of the imaginary. A moment preserved by a photograph gives us an encounter between the eye that looks and the captured moment, an emotion that involves the hunter and the prey in unison with the viewer; the emotion which was contained into that instant comes now into resonance causing echoes, biographical reflections on the mirror of the image: appealing to our own memory, a collective imaginary emerges. But this retrospective happens now, while it governs the existing ban on photographing children, those girls and boys who barely go through a street that is not longer for them: we face the denial of its own absence. Thus, we begin the new century, leaded by images that circulate by other networks and according to new codes and heterogeneous contexts.
