¿Qué es una buena fotografía de arquitectura?

Abstract

Este texto busca reflexionar sobre lo que puede considerarse como una “buena fotografía de arquitectura”. Para esto, sugiere cuestionamientos sobre el hacer fotográfico y, finalmente, sobre lo que puede entenderse como una buena fotografía de arquitectura. La comprensión del objeto arquitectónico se presenta de un modo distinto a través la fotografía en comparación con lo que los ojos humanos perciben en un contacto directo con la realidad visible. Son regímenes visuales, patrones que están, así, volviéndose cada vez más dramatizados y ofreciendo una realidad exagerada. Luego, cuando estos mismos ojos realicen la lectura de las fotografías, la harán con más o menos precisión, pues dependerá del grado de verdad y artisticidad que se ofrece a través de estas imágenes, juntamente con la capacidad del lector al descodificarla. Este trabajo es parte del resultado de una provocación hecha a algunos fotógrafos, arquitectos, teóricos/investigadores y, también, a editores de revistas especializadas en arquitectura sobre como analizan y entienden la fotografía de arquitectura. De estas entrevistas, interlocuciones e investigación bibliográfica, surgieron puntos de interés que se presentarán aquí. Además de estos resultados, este texto propone una importante discusión y concienciación en un área de actuación de la fotografía poco estudiada y problematizada.

The aim of this text is to reflect on what can be considered “good architectural photography”. It intends to raise questions about “the act of taking photographs”, and finally, what is understood as good architectural photography. The comprehension of the architectural object presents itself in an increasingly distinctive manner for photography compared to what human eyes can see in direct contact with the visible reality. They are visual schemes, standards that are becoming more dramatized, offering an “exaggerated reality”. When the human eyes read the photographs, they will do so more or less accurately, depending on the degree of truth and art offered by these images and the reader’s decoding ability. This work is part of the result of a teaser to some photographers, architects, theorists/researchers and magazine editors specialized in architecture, in terms of how they see and understand architectural photography. Through these interviews, dialogues and bibliographic research some interesting points have appeared which will be presented here. In addition to these results, this paper proposes the necessity for discussion and awareness about an area of photography so little studied and examined.
