Cristo «mediador». Perspectiva bíblica

Abstract

El núcleo del artículo está constituido por el análisis de los seis textos del Nuevo Testamento en los que aparece el término mediador (mesi,thj): Ga 3,19-20; 1 Tm 2,5-6; Hb 8,6; 9,14; 12,24. En todos los casos, excepto en Ga, se trata de un título aplicado a Cristo. El texto de 1 Tm recibe una consideración más detenida por su especial claridad hermenéutica. Antes del estudio de estos textos, se introduce el tema de la mediación con referencia a la literatura helenística y al Antiguo Testamento. La última parte del trabajo ofrece una síntesis de teología bíblica del único mediador, Cristo. En ella se considera la naturaleza del Mediador, su obra, y tres aspectos relacionados con Cristo mediador: nuevo Adán, primogénito, cabeza.

The main focus of this article is to analyze the six texts of the New Testament in which the term mediator (mesítês) appears: Gal 3,19-20; 1 Tim 2,5-6; Heb 8,6; 9,14; 12,24. In all these cases, except in Gal, this title is applied to Christ. In the text of 1 Tim, a discussion takes place that is more detailed because of its special hermeneutic clarity. Before examining these texts, we introduce the theme of mediation with reference to Hellenistic literature and the Old Testament. The last part of the article offers a synthesis of the Biblical theology of the only mediator, Christ. This examines the nature of the Mediator and His work, and discusses three aspects related to Christ the Mediator: the new Adam, the First-Born, and the Head.
