Reinterpretación del Antiguo Testamento en el Nuevo: cristología teocéntrica en el Apocalipsis de san Juan

Abstract

El libro del Apocalipsis puede ser un excelente ejemplo de cómo el Nuevo Testamento estaba latente en el Antiguo y éste se hace patente en el Nuevo (Dei Verbum, n.16). Examinando tres textos de claro contenido cristológico tomados del diálogo inicial y del corpus principal, se observa que los numerosos títulos que el autor del Apocalipsis aplica a Cristo tienen su origen en atribuciones similares del Antiguo Testamento aplicadas directamente a Dios. Se descubre así una cristología teocéntrica en el libro basada en una actualización de textos veterotestamentarios. El evento de Jesús es la clave para comprender el Antiguo Testamento y éste, a su vez, ilumina la comprensión de dicho evento.

The book of Revelation may be an excellent example of how the New Testament was latent in the Old Testament and the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament (Dei Verbum, n.16). When examining three texts that have a clear Christological contents taken from the initial dialogue and the principal corpus, we observe that the numerous titles that the author of the Revelation attributes to Christ have their origin in similar attributions in the Old Testament that are applied directly to God. In this way a Theocentric Christology is discovered, based on the way in which the Old Testament texts are adapted to the new vision. The event of Jesus is the key to understanding the Old Testament, while the latter also illuminates our comprehension of the former.
