El tema senequiano de los beneficios y el "Marco Bruto" de Quevedo

Abstract

En los preliminares de su Vida de Marco Bruto (1644), Quevedo inserta, entre muchos otros, tres fragmentos sacados de las obras de Séneca el Filósofo concernientes a las hazañas de su protagonista; al traducirlos con su genial arbitrariedad, acentúa en uno de ellos el elogio, en otro el vituperio de Bruto, con el fin de anunciar de antemano esa simetría antitética, en el juicio moral, que el lector encontrará a lo largo del libro. In the introduction to his Vida de Marco Bruto (1644), Quevedo inserts, among other many things, three fragments taken from Seneca's works dealing with the events of the protagonist; translating them with his genial style, he remarks the tribute in one of them, while in the other Quevedo stresses the character's indignity, trying to emphasize this antithetical simmetry, judging a character, that the reader will find throughout the work.
