La repercusión literaria del 98 en Puerto Rico

Abstract

El artículo reseña varias novelas escritas en Puerto Rico por la llamada "generación del setenta". Aquí se trata de la anexión de Puerto Rico a Estados Unidos como un tema literario que hurga en la identidad y nacionalidad de los habitantes de la isla. Autores como Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá o Luis López Nieves retratan ese crucial momento, y crean, en el caso de este último, una versión ficticia que tiende a redimir la historia por medio de héroes desconocidos. The article reviews several novels written in Puerto Rico by the so-called "Generation of the Seventies". The annexation of Puerto Rico to the United States is dealt with here as a literary theme that delves into the identity and nationality of the inhabitants of the island. Authors such as Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá or Luis López Nieves portray this crucial moment and they create, in the case of the latter, a fictitious version that tends to redeem history by means of unknown heroes.
