La imagen de Martí en la época revolucionaria

Abstract

El artículo repasa la imagen del poeta e intelectual José Martí a través del siglo XX, y las distintas lecturas y ediciones que se han hecho de su obra. Así, vemos que varias tendencias políticas e ideológicas, a veces contrarias, han querido apropiarse de su figura, hasta que el régimen de Fidel Castro lo convirtió en un símbolo, un profeta de la Revolución Cubana. Finalmente el texto señala los últimos estudios que se han hecho de la obra del insigne poeta. The article reviews the image of the poet and intellectual José Martí through the 20th century and the distinct readings and editions that are made from his work. From there, we see that various political and ideological tendencies, sometimes contradictory, have wanted to appropriate themselves in his work, even to the point that the regime of Fidel Castro converted him into a symbol, a prophet of the Cuban Revolution. Lastly the text shows the latest studies that have been produced about the work of this distinguished poet.
