dc.description.abstract | Thomas More’s antityrannical and anti-absolutist thinking was professed with consistency and in his eminently legal education was influenced by Henri of Bracton and John Fortescue, who laid the foundation for his principal legal/political theses. Thomas More not only can be considered a precursor of the principle of religious tolerance and conscientious objection but also a man convinced of the need for natural justice. Here we will not only sketch the figure of Thomas More but also give an overview of his principal works to demonstrate how the duality of politics and religion cannot be explained without reference to the concept of natural-rational justice in his thinking. | - |
