Sobre algunos pasajes bíblicos en la agudeza de Quevedo

Abstract

La utilización de citas bíblicas en Los sueños, Buscón y Prosa festiva sigue los preceptos indicados por el Índice que requieren su empleo exclusivo en un contexto «grave y decente», en palabras de Gracián. No obstante, también en el discurso satírico de Quevedo hay citas bíblicas, de acuerdo con una larga tradición. De esta ambivalencia constituye un ejemplo el cuadro dedicado a las viudas en El mundo por de dentro, donde por un lado se censura el acopio de citas bíblicas mientras que por otro el análisis del texto muestra que de ellas mismas Quevedo saca imágenes y técnicas que se convierten en el fundamento de su invención. The use of biblical quotations in Los sueños, Buscón and Prosa festiva follows the criteria given by the Index, indicating that they can be used only in a «grave and decent» context, in the words of Gracián. However, there are biblical quotations in Quevedo's satiric discourse, following a long tradition. An example of this ambivalence is the scene refering to the widows in El mundo por de dentro, where, on one hand, the accumulation of quotations is critisised and while, on the other hand, the analysis of those shows that Quevedo obtains from them images and techniques to establish his invention.
