La influencia de la tradición popular en las letras de Silvio Rodríguez

Abstract

Los objetivos de este trabajo consisten en: 1) ofrecer un breve perfil de la figura literaria de Silvio Rodríguez; 2) analizar los rasgos fundamentales que caracterizan su obra literaria; 3) descubrir y diseccionar las múltiples influencias literarias advertibles en sus letras. En primer lugar, se ofrece una prosopografía de la figura del cantautor, haciendo referencia a la gran influencia que ha tenido en músicos y escritores posteriores, la admiración y el reconocimiento que reputados artistas han profesado públicamente a su trayectoria, y su postura personal ante su condición de ídolo de masas. Seguidamente se realiza el análisis poético propiamente dicho, señalando los principales elementos que el trovador aporta a la esfera literaria cubana e hispanohablante. Por último, se analiza su fuerte conexión con algunos poetas, predecesores y contemporáneos, que han marcado de manera más significativa su relación con el quehacer poético.

The aims of this contribution are threefold: 1) to provide a brief overview of the literary figure of Silvio Rodríguez; 2) to analyze the fundamental features that make his poetic works distinguishable; 3) to discover and analyze the multiple literary influences that are noticeable in his songs. First of all, this contribution offers an accurate profile of the songwriter’s character, referring to the great influence he has made on late musicians and writers, the admiration he has raised among artists of his own time, and his personal attitude he has kept regarding his condition as a mass idol. Second, a poetic analysis is made, focusing on the most relevant elements that the trovador has provided to the Cuban and the Spanishspeaking literary sphere. At last, there is an analysis of his strong connection with certain poets, predecessors and contemporaries, who are crucial to understand the poetic practices of Rodríguez.
