La inspiración cristiana en la educación en la Universidad de Navarra

Abstract

El presente artículo describe la manera en que la inspiración cristiana configura la educación en la Universidad de Navarra. Los dos aspectos de la identidad de la institución, como universidad y como cristiana, no son algo yuxtapuesto o subordinado el uno al otro, sino que se integran y potencian mutuamente. Se presentan los principios básicos del Ideario: servicio, verdad, libertad y fidelidad a la Iglesia; así como algunas iniciativas que se desarrollan para ponerlo en práctica. Lo específico de estas iniciativas es que van encaminadas al desarrollo de una cultura institucional reflexiva, pues este parece el mejor modo de lograr que la identidad teórica se corresponda con la identidad real.

This article describes the way in which the Catholic faith shapes education at the University of Navarra. The two aspects of the institution’s identity, i.e., the Catholic dimension and the university dimension, are not juxtaposed and one is not favored over the other. Rather, they work together and mutually reinforce each other. The article will present the basic principles of the University’s Statement of Core Values, i.e., service, truth, freedom and faithfulness to the Church, and some of the initiatives that are undertaken to put them into practice. What’s special about these initiatives is that they aim to promote a reflective institutional culture, since this appears to be the best way to ensure that theoretical identity is consistent with real identity.
