Contribución de Miguel Gortari Beiner (1920-1977) a la arquitectura navarra contemporánea

Abstract

Miguel Gortari Beiner (1920-1977) ha sido uno de los arquitectos más prolíficos en el panorama de la arquitectura navarra del tercer cuarto del siglo XX. Titulado en 1949 por la Escuela Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, la figura de Modesto López Otero orientó su concepto de arquitectura en el que la apuesta por lo moderno, el funcionalismo, y el urbanismo y la importancia concedida a los valores de la ordenación colectiva, se convierten en premisas fundamentales de su labor profesional. Autor de proyectos de la más variada naturaleza entre los que destacan la parroquia de San Francisco Javier, el Hotel de los Tres Reyes y diversos bloques de viviendas en Pamplona, no menos importante resulta su arquitectura irrealizada con la participación en destacados concursos de anteproyectos como los del Teatro Nacional de la Ópera de Madrid, la Ópera Nacional de Sofía, y el Edificio Singular de Pamplona.

Miguel Gortari Beiner (1920-1977) has been one of the most prolific architects in the panorama of Navarrese Architecture in the third fourth of 20th Century. Graduate in 1949 by High School of Architecture of Madrid, the figure of Modesto López Otero guided him to a concept of architecture where the bet for the modern, the functionalism, and the urbanism and the importance given to the values of collective planning, become fundamental premises in his work. He is the author of projects of varied nature; among them we can underline San Francisco Javier Parish, Tres Reyes Hotel, and several blocks of flats in Pamplona. It is not less important his not-realised architecture, with his participation in remarkable contests of preliminary plans, as the ones of National Theatre of the Opera of Madrid, National Opera of Sofia, and the Singular Building in Pamplona.
