dc.description.abstract | This contribution analyses the genesis, construction, and consolidation of the iconic image of Libya, which differs from other Graeco–Roman territorial personifications in the par ticular impor tance of its mythical–religious basis, resulting from a process of syncretism between Greek and autochthonous Libyan worlds. Through the detailed study of several documental sources (literature, iconography, epigraphy, and numismatics), we present an itinerary from the first testimonies from the 6th c. BC to the evidence of the 2nd c. AD, when the personification of Libya is fully integrated in the propagandistic system of the Roman Empire. | en_US |
| es_ES |
