Notas sobre la formación de la conciencia en John Henry Newman

Abstract

This article tries to show the relevance of John Henry Newman’s approach regarding with the formation of conscience. Accordingly, some of his most relevant ideas are taken from his most representative texts, as well as from those of his commentators and critics of his Thought. These are contrasted with some classical and current perspectives about this subject. The aim of the text is to prove how Newman, with his ideas on the Moral Sense, the Sense of Duty and the Illative Sense, among others, offers reflections of great value that can be applied in a practical way to this issue of the Christian Formation.

En el presente artículo mostrará la actualidad del planteamiento de John Henry Newman en relación al tema de la formación de la conciencia. Para ello se toman algunas de las ideas más importantes de sus textos más representativos, así como de comentadores y críticos de su pensamiento y se contrastan con algunas perspectivas clásicas y actuales sobre el tema. Se pretende poner de manifiesto cómo Newman con sus ideas sobre el sentido moral, el sentido del deber y el sentido ilativo, entre algunas otras, ofrece reflexiones de gran valor para aplicar de modo práctico a este aspecto de la formación cristiana.
