El autor, en homenaje al profesor Javier Hervada y con ocasión de una tesis doctoral sobre John Finnis defendida recientemente en la Universidad de Navarra, parte de la distinción entre derecho y moral para analizar la relación entre el iusnaturalismo y la ley natural, que engloba contenidos no solo jurídicos sino también morales.
