Abstract
The goal of this projet is to select and develop one sensor technology to model for a desired application. For that purpose, several sensors will be studied, characterized, and experimented with to ensure they can produce the desired results. In thIs case, the application is a power module, which will serve as a control device for 800 V electric car batteries. Particularly, it is of great interest to this project to be able to frag overcurrents that happen in the precharge mode of this module, in which large current peaks can take place at hign frequencies and current slope (or di/dt). Therefore, quick response time is essential for the final version of the application. Shunt, Hall, AMR and TMR sensors technologies will be studied and tested within a specially designed setud that will replicate the circunstances the module is expected to encounter. Measurements will be taken and analyzed in order to draw conlucions and determine the suitabiliyty of the sensors to work in this environment as well as to characterize them as well as possible. The last step of the project will be to select one of these sensors and to design a specific board for it to be integrated inside of the power module, attending geometry, and performing a full dianostic taking into account automotive estandards.
