Integrating the Decision-Making Process in the Work- Family Field: An Action-Based Approach
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2023) Chinchilla-Albiol, M.N. (María Nuria); Kim, S. (Sowon); Grau-Grau, M. (Marc)
The aim of this article is to integrate the decision-making process in the work-family field using an action-based approach. Drawing from the theory of Pérez López, we develop a conceptual framework as a way of understanding the internal decision-making process among managers in the work-family field. We use the core concepts of his theory, motivational structure, and motivation learning, and link them with caregiving ambition and family-supportive supervisor behaviors to build our framework. This iterative model illustrates how motivational factors influence caregiving ambition and family-supportive supervisor behaviors from which motivation learning is derived, and future decisions are constantly shaped.

(Juan Salvador); Pérez-Pérez, L. (Lucía); Berlanga, I. (Inmaculada)
This proposal aims to expose different academic and professional aspects in the implementation of the theoretical teachings of Juan Antonio Pérez López (1994) carried out mainly by the authors of this work, specifically in the field of cultural organizations and institutions. Regarding to this, two specific fields of study are proposed applied to very recurrent extremes of current popular culture: museums and the fashion sector. Finally, updated research and future lines of work in the aforementioned fields are offered.

Decisional Institutional Analysis Development (DIAD) Framework
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2023) Cadillo-La-Torre, M.M. (María Milagros)
Decisional Framework for Institutional Analysis and Development is based on conception of Agents as free adaptive complex systems; in this way, it shows process of interactions between Agents and how this influences achievement of permanence of organization over time; incorporating not only learning product of results, but also learning product of Agents’ decisions. This framework incorporates a decisional approach, bringing Agents to fore in reconciliation with institutions and contexts, making explicit their interactions and the decision itself as the basis of governance system. In this way, it helps to position elements that make up complexity of reality of organizations that share resources in common use to govern it.

(Josep Maria)
This article briefly sets out the foundations of organization theory as developed by Juan Antonio Pérez López, who was a professor at IESE (1962/96) and its dean (1978/84). The foundations of this theory are analyzed: the questions that he asked himself as a professor of Control Systems, and the works of various authors, among which Barnard and Selznick stand out, in addition to classical Aristotelian philosophy. We then show his contribution going beyond these authors ; and we end with a defense of his methodological position, which is not the most currently accepted today.

A fundamental contribution of Juan Antonio Pérez López (JAPL) is a better understanding of the interaction process between two agents, active and reactive, that opened a new and productive dimension to the analysis of human relationships in organizations. This article views his model from the decision making under uncertainty perspective, emphasizing the associated learning processes. From the type of uncertainty faced by agents in a given interaction, its evolution can be seen as an information accumulation which results in recurrent learning. The result is a somewhat more detailed conceptual account for learning in JAPL’s model while still coherent with it.

    Dirigir en entornos turbulentos
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2023) Alegre, I. (Inés); Ariño, M.A. (Miguel Ángel)
Pérez-López (2018) identified three parameters to evaluate the quality of an organization: efficacy, attractivity and unity (Ariño, 2005; Ferreiro, Alcázar, 2019). The practical application of these parameters has taken place mostly in stable environments, since this was the state of the world when Pérez-López developed his theories. The last decades have been characterized by big social and organizational changes and high degree of uncertainty (Millar, Groth, Mahon, 2018). This article reviews the three dimensions of Pérez-López to assess que quality of an organization and suggests some guidelines for its implementation in volatile and uncertain environments.
