- Nostalgia de futuro: el transhumanismo y la libertad trascendental(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Monterde-Ferrando, R. (Rafael)This article analyses the notion of nostalgia for the future in order to understand its meaning in the context of transhumanist philosophy and the philosophy of Leonardo Polo. The representatives of transhumanism have been chosen as those who historically are its intellectual fathers: Julian Huxley and Fereidoun M. Esfandiary, who later changed his name to FM-2030. The aim of the article is to analyse the two philosophies in order to deepen the desire for transcendence that each develops and to see to what extent a dialogue between the two is possible.
- Análisis crítico de la educación centrada en competencias desde el pensamiento poliano(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Fresneda-Herrera, S. (Sidnei); Moros-Claramunt, E. (Enrique)The main objective of education, as it is maintained nowadays, is the achievement of a series of competences. Although it is possible to think about of social, civic or ethical competences, the central idea of this perspective is that education must serve first of all for the performance of a profession, which will define the social success of students. The main objective of this article is to philosophically question the validity of this objective. We argue that the acquisition of competences must be based on and subordinated to the acquisition of virtues. This response refers to the thinking of Leonardo Polo and allows an understanding of education based on its cultivation.
- Conceptos de derecho y derecho natural en Leonardo Polo(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Riofrío, J.C. (Juan Carlos)This article defines the notion of law in Leonardo Polo and explains how he understood natural law. After an introduction, Chapter 2 makes a historical analysis, reviewing how these notions evolved in Polo’s life. Chapter 3 focuses on the Polian notion of law. With this notion, on Chapter 4 it is reconstructed the concept of natural law that Polo probably used, in order to suggest in chapter 5 what should be the methodology for studying natural law, according to the Polian canons.

- El espacio de la imaginación como fundamento del «ars iuris»(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Castañeda-y-Granados, D.H. (Daniel H.)This paper aims to develop the idea of space and time as objects of the imagination in Leonardo Polo’s thought. The treatment of imagination space is appropriate in a study of Polo’s legal philosophy since he maintains that it is the “place” where the technical is developed. Thus, all human arts, among which the ars iuris would occupy a prominent place, would have their foundation in the imagination space. Roman jurists understood ius as ars boni et aequi, which would indicate that jurisprudence since ancient times was considered an art or technique.
