- Del manuscrito al impreso: versiones del "Memorial y relación verdadera... de cosas del reino del Perú" (1632-1634), de Bernardino de Cárdenas(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2020) Ortiz-Canseco, M. (Marta)Known primarily as the bishop and governor of Paraguay, Bernardino de Cárdenas was involved in a historic controversy due to his opposition to the Jesuit missions in the Guarani region during the 17th Century. Nevertheless, his job as “Extirpator of Idolatries” in the Peruvian Andes has gone unnoticed. This paper aims to explore his career as a missionary in the Charcas area (1620s) and it focuses on the two versions of a little known memorial in which he wrote about his experiences as a priest in the Andes.
