(Luis Gethsemaní)In this paper we present the results of the documentation of a possible cattle hut located in Dehesa de Villargordo (Villafranca de los Barros, SW Spain) by an intensive archaeological survey. This site must have depended on the nearby settlement of Villargordo which, from a hill on the other hand of the Bonhabal stream and next to the Via de la Plata, would be controlling and exploiting this area of wooded pastureland between the Hight Roman Empire and the Early Middle Ages. The archaeological data obtained from our _eldwork has allowed us to carry out a kernel density estimation to specify the location of the hut withing the space of the extinct wooded pastureland. From this analysis we have been able to assess the rate of lateral displacement of artifacts caused by the action of the agricultural plow. Furthermore we have been able to discriminate artifacts by chronological and functional groups. These analyzes, combined with the study of diagnostic artifacts and with a historical approach to the the transformations of the landscape, has allowed us to interpret the archaeological site at a chronological, functional and economic level.
