El gobierno de las diócesis y su configuración institucional: Las curias diocesanas y su estructura en la corona de Castilla en la Edad Moderna (ss. XVI-XVIII)
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2020) Rico-Callado, F.L. (Francisco Luis)
This paper studies the diocesan curia, focusing on the episcopal secretariat and the diocesan court. Although the two institutions specialized in different procedures, cooperation and exchange of information between them were usual. The role of the provisor encompassed both procedural and administrative responsibilities. This paper explores other roles in the diocesan court, including notaries and prosecutors. The secretary was linked to the bishop and his importance increased after the Council of Trent. The lack of official registries means that all extant records must be examined to shed light on the issues raised in this paper.

La práctica del gobierno diocesano en la Edad Moderna: una aproximación a través del estudio de los expedientes y sus documentos
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Rico-Callado, F.L. (Francisco Luis)
The characteristics of the Canon Administrative Law have been established a century ago. Anyway, Catholic authorities have carried out, throughout history, a governmental task, separated, more or less clearly, from the contentious cases. Studies on this question are scarce. This contribution tries to determine its characteristics in the diocesan sphere in the period comprehended between the 16th and 18th Centuries. To define this subject, the author uses archival sources from the diocese of Mérida Badajoz. The paper establishes the phases of the governmental proceedings and the documents associated to them. Also, the author uses the files to describe the structure of some of the most usual procedures.
