Transhumanismo, biotecnología y derechos humanos: diálogos, exigencias y necesidad de respuestas
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2021) Santa-María-D'Angelo, R. (Rafael)
The cultural proposal of transhumanism has grown in recent years and finds in various expressions of biotechnology the ideal instrument to consolidate its proposal. What biotechnology shows us as progress with other living beings, transhumanism presents us as an unquestionable improvement for the human being, with the addition of overcoming human nature itself. It is here where human rights intervene, not only in attention to their possible regulation, but in response to the concern to attend to the basic assumptions of its foundations, those that biotechnology could neutrally ignore and that transhumanism has clearly forgotten. Without a critical dialogue or questioning of the foundation of human rights in the face of transhumanist advance, the Right could regulate as «rights», but it would be necessary to wonder how the consideration of «human» would be.
