Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el papel jugado por los niños en los procesos judiciales contra las brujas de la Navarra del siglo XVI, en el contexto de la Europa occidental. Estos aparecieron tradicionalmente como víctimas propiciatorias e inocentes de una secta; pero también tuvieron, como denunciantes y testigos, una importante responsabilidad en la persecución de parientes y vecinos, en lo que sería un precedente de su gran protagonismo en la caza de brujas de los inicios del siglo XVII. El texto también intenta explicar por qué se acusó a las brujas de asesinar a niños o cómo y por qué los niños describieron, con todo detalle, las reuniones y los maleficios de las brujas.

Lan honen xedea da aztertzea haurrek nola hartu zuten parte XVI. mendeko Nafarroako sorginen prozesu judizialetan, mendebaldeko Europaren testuinguruan. Ohikoa zen umeak sekta baten sakrifizio-biktima errugabe gisa agertzea; baina salatzaile eta lekuko gisa ere erantzukizun handia izan zuten ahaideen eta bizilagunen jazarpenean, eta hori da XVII. mendearen hasieran sorginen ehizan izan zuten protagonismo handiaren aurrekaria. Testuak azaldu nahi du zergatik leporatu zieten sorginei haurrak hil izana, eta nola eta zergatik deskribatu zituzten haurrek, xehetasun ugari emanez, sorginen bilerak eta begikoak.

This paper aims to analyze the role played by children in the lawsuits against the witches of Navarra in the 16th century in the context of Western Europe. These, traditionally, appeared as scapegoats and innocent victims of a sect; but infants also had, as complainants and witnesses, an important responsibility in the persecution of relatives and neighbors, in what would be a precedent for their great role in the witch hunt of the early seventeenth century. This article also attempts to explain why witches were accused of murdering children or how and why children described in the trials, in great detail the witches’ covens and spells.
