La primera parte de este artículo se refiere al conocimiento directo de Cataluña que tuvo Ángel Ganivet acerca de las actividades estéticas organizadas en el pueblo de Sitges por Santiago Rusiñol. En la segunda parte, se exponen los argumentos negativos de Ganivet sobre el resurgir del sentimiento nacionalista español de finales del siglo XIX. Ganivet estuvo en contra de la autonomía política de las regiones, pero a favor de la autonomía de los municipios, porque pensaba que estos eran los organismos que mejor podían llevar a cabo las reformas sociales. The first part of this article focuses on the opinions of Ganivet about the artistic activities Santiago Rusiñol acomplished in the town of Sitges. In the second part, the author exposes the negative arguments of Ganivet about the uprising of spanish nationalist feelings at the end of the 19th century. Ganivet toke position against the political autonomy of the regions, but was in favor of the municipal autonomy, for he believed the municipals to be the most appropiate instituions to accomplish social reformations.
