En este artículo se analiza el posible influjo que pudo ejercer la mística de santa Teresa en la teología de Domingo Báñez, O. P. con respecto al fin práctico de la Teología. Para el maestro dominico hay un conocimiento de Dios que trasciende el conocimiento meramente formal alcanzándose un conocimiento por vía de eminencia causado por la unión con Dios. Por esto entre los grandes teólogos se encuentran los que han alcanzado una caridad perfecta y una experiencia de Dios. De este modo se ve posible el diálogo fecundo entre mística y escolástica tradicionalmente vistas como incompatibles.

This article analyzes the possible influence of the mysticism of St. Teresa in the theology of Domingo Bañez with regard to the practical aim of theology. For the Dominican magister, there is a knowledge of God that –being a knowledge caused by the union with God and obtained through the way of eminence– transcends the merely formal knowledge. That being the case, among great theologians, some have achieved a perfect charity and an experience of God. Henceforth, it is possible to establish a fruitful dialogue between mysticism and scholasticism, though these two have traditionally been considered incompatible.
