Partiendo del principio metodológico de la utilización de la literatura —utilizando los necesarios filtros y contrastes— como fuente histórica, el presente trabajo es un estudio comparativo de la presencia de la idea del Nuevo Mundo en la literatura dramática del Siglo de Oro español generada en torno a la corte de la Monarquía Hispánica con la Inglaterra de la época y el teatro isabelino. Se analiza la densidad de conceptos, personajes, procesos y circunstancias que estaban presentes en el primer caso y la evidente diferencia con las notables ausencias sobre estos temas en el segundo, estableciendo una relación con la evolución histórica de los dos países.

Starting from the methodological principle of the use of Literature —using the necessary filters and contrasts— as a historical source, the present work is a comparative study of the presence of the idea of the New World in the dramatic Literature of the Spanish Golden Age generated around the court of the Hispanic Monarchy with the England of the time and the Elizabethan theater. We analyze the density of concepts, characters, processes and circumstances that were present in the first case and the evident difference with the notable absences on these topics in the second, establishing a relationship with the historical evolution of the two countries.
