La exposición “Entrelazados” es la materialización de una experiencia creativa cruzada, llevada a cabo entre un artista calígrafo de reconocido prestigio internacional y los alumnos de la asignatura de Creative Traditions in History, del primer curso del Grado en Diseño de la Universidad de Navarra. Del 12 al 14 de marzo de 2024 tuvo lugar la Arabic Calli- graphy Week que permitió experimentar en directo el arte y la técnica de la caligrafía árabe en el taller práctico impartido por Everitte Barbee. Los alumnos profundizaron en la estética formal y en la capacidad expresiva de esta caligrafía, al practicar diferen- tes caracteres y los trazos de las iniciales de su propio nombre en árabe. Este trabajo fue recogido como ejercicio continuado de ca- racteres caligráficos, que se exhibieron en sus bocetos iniciales y en su versión definitiva, en diálogo cruzado con las últimas obras realizadas por el artista invitado.

The exhibition “Entrelazados” is the materialization of a cross-creative experience, carried out by a distinguished calligrapher of international prestige in collaboration with first-year undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Design at the University of Navarre, enrolled in a course on Creative Traditions in History. On the occasion of Arabic Calligraphy Week, which took place from March 12-14, 2024, firsthand exposure to Arabic calligraphic art and technique was offered in a practical workshop facilitated by Everitte Barbee. Students had the opportunity to delve into the formal aesthetics and expressive capacity of this style of calligraphy by practicing different characters and the strokes of their initials in Arabic. This work was collected as a continued exercise in calligraphic characters and they were exhibited in their initial sketches as well as in their final version, in dialogue with the latest works realized by the guest artist.
