Las relaciones entre la razón y la vida es uno de los temas claves de la filosofía a comienzos del siglo XX y también un problema central en el pensamiento de Eugenio d’Ors. Ahora bien, el modo como d’Ors plantea estas relaciones tiene una no- table complejidad interna, en general no adecuadamente recogida por las diversas interpretaciones sobre su filosofía, a menudo sig- nificativamente discrepantes en este punto. De hecho, el filósofo catalán recorre dos perspectivas muy diferentes para resolver esta cuestión: en una se afirma la plena integración unitaria de razón y vida, mientras que en la otra se afirma la radical dualidad antité- tica entre ambas. Perspectivas en las que tanto la noción de vida como otros conceptos importantes son entendidos de modo muy diferente, haciéndose visible algunas de las influencias principa- les que marcaron su planteamiento de la cuestión.

The relationship between reason and life is one of the key issues of early 20th Century philosophy, and also a main problem in the thought of Eugenio d’Ors. Nevertheless the way in which d’Ors argues about this relationship has considerable internal complexity, which in general has not been adequately acknowledged by his interpreters, who frequently disagree on this point. In fact, the Catalonian philosopher offers two very different perspectives in order to resolve this question; in one perspective he affirms the full integration of reason and life, but in the other he affirms their radical antithetic duality. These are two perspectives in which life and other important concepts are understood in very different ways, and in which we see some of the main influences that left their mark on his approach
