En este artículo se recoge el proceso de construcción simbólica de una montaña, Montejurra, y la diversidad de los usos que se le dieron a partir de la primera guerra carlista y hasta nuestros días. Aunque básicamente asociado a la memoria triunfal del carlismo y a su vínculo con la montaña en sentido genérico, también se usó desde el liberalismo, bien como elemento negativo, bien mediante su incorporación al historial heroico del ejército; y desde el nacionalismo vasco radical. La fluidez del significado simbólico, por tanto, aparece como uno de los elementos más destacados de este proceso de creación histórica.

This article reflects the process of symbolic construction of a mountain, Montejurra, and the diversity of uses that were given from the first Carlist war to this day. Although primarily associated with triumphant Carlism memory and his connection to the mountain in a generic sense, it was also used by liberalism, either as negative element, as well as by exalting the heroic history of the army; and by the radical Basque nationalism. The fluidity of the symbolic meaning appears, therefore, as one of the highlights of this process of historical construction.
