In this paper I show the compatibility of Polo’s account of causality with current paradigms in theoretical biology. The article shows how the analysis of vital activity leads to a distinction between the functions of the vegetative life, the organic faculties of sensitive life and the habits of the human person. Humans ‘finalize’ or perfect themselves by means of their habits: their nature is potential with regard to their spiritual destination.es_ES
