Abstract

On the basis of the counterweight that Ortega finds in the contradictory life of Goethe, he proposes a new definition of biography: a triple connection between circumstance, vocation and chance. His idea of biography is intended to be a more daring proposal than Idealism’s idea of being, because it includes the environment within the self.
