dc.description.abstract | The new archbishop of Mexico, Feliciano de Vega y Padilla, arrived on December 5th, 1640 to the viceroyalty of New Spain but he died short after landing in Acapulco. The visitador general, viceroy, governor and capitan general of the Ncw Spain, Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, who was also a personal friend of the deceased, was responsible for organizing the memorial celebrations in honour of the creole prelate. Shortly after, an account of the festivities was printed in Mexico and dedicated to Counselor of Indies,Juan de Solórzano y Pereira, good friend of both protagonists. | - |
