Calderón, el canon y el repertorio

Abstract

La definición del canon calderoniano no es fácil. Se pasa revista en este trabajo a tres cánones: el académico, que reconoce entre veinte y treinta títulos como centrales en su producción; el estudiantil (que presumiblemente no difiere mucho del del público culto no especializado), que se reduce a dos o tres títulos; y el escénico, que distingue entre un limitadísimo elenco de obras cuyos montajes se repiten, y una más amplia lista (próxima aunque no coincidente con la del canon académico) de las que solo se han ofrecido en los últimos cuarenta años contadas escenificaciones. Queda, por tanto, mucho Calderón por descubrir. The definition of the Calderonian canon is not easy. Three canons are examined in this work: the academic, which recognizes between twenty and thirty titles as central in its production; that of the student (that presumably does not differ much from the unspecialized, cultured public), which is reduced to two or three titles; and the scenic, which distinguishes between a very limited cast of works whose stagings are repeated, and a wider list (close but not the same as that of the academic canon) of those which have only been offered in the past forty years of counted stagings. There remains, moreover, much Calderón to discover.
