Notas musicales y fuentes italianas para ‘El árbol del mejor fruto’, acerca de una reciente edición crítica (Ignacio Arellano, Kassel, Reichenberger, 2009)

Abstract

La edición crítica de Ignacio Arellano de ‘El árbol del mejor fruto’ ofrece un texto filológicamente seguro y aportaciones fundamentales sobre el contexto cultural que rodeaba a la puesta en escena del auto, además de otras investigaciones sobre los diversos temas tratados: la popularidad de las historias salomónicas en el teatro del Siglo de Oro, la consolidación de la leyenda del árbol de la cruz y el interés por la reina de Saba. Esta edición será en el futuro el punto de partida imprescindible para llevar a cabo cualquier estudio sobre ‘El árbol del mejor fruto’ o sobre ‘La sibila del Oriente’, además de una valiosa herramienta con la que orientarse entre los textos que han contribuido a la difusión de las historias de Salomón y de la leyenda del árbol de la cruz desde la antigüedad hasta el Siglo de Oro.--------------------------------------------------------------Ignacio Arellano's critical edition of ‘El arból de mejor fruto’ offers a philologically secure text as well as fundamental contributions concerning the cultural context of he play's production. Moreover, several investigations about diverse topics of the play are included: the popularity of Solomon within the theatre of the Golden Age Period, the consolidation of the legend of the cross-tree and the public interest in the queen of Saba. This edition will be the indispensable starting point of further investigations dealing with ‘El árbol de major fruto’ or ‘La sibila del Oriente’ and, moreover, a useful tool of orientation within the texts that have spread the tales of Solomon and the legend of the cross-tree from antiquity to the Golden Age Period.
