José Asunción Silva: De sobremesa. Etapas de una búsqueda simbólica

Abstract

El propósito del artículo es demostrar la coherencia interna, fruto de una considerable elaboración técnica, en la novela modernista de José Asunción Silva, De sobremesa, a la que los críticos han achacado impericia narrativa y desorganización en su estructura. Para ello se analizan una serie de elementos estructurales y simbólicos que contribuyen a reforzar la unidad de la novela. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the internal coherence, resulting from a considerable technical preparation, in the modernist novel of José Asunción Silva, De sobremesa, which has been accused by the critics of lack of narrative skills and disorganization in its structure. To do this, a series of structural and symbolic elements that contribute to strengthen the unity of the novel are analyzed.
