Casa y posición social: El ajuar barroco español, reflejo de un estatus

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende aproximarse - en unas pocas páginas- a las peculiaridades de los ajuares españoles, sea por zonas geográficas, cronología o tipología, algo que, dada su inmensa variedad, resulta un difícil ejercicio de simplificación, al que procuraremos dotar de utilidad ofreciendo algunos ejemplos de interiores históricos, basándose en documentos y testimonios gráficos contemporáneos que se centran en los siglos XVII y XVIII, quizás el período más interesante para la historia del arte español, por su riqueza y variedad, del que, además, se dispone de suficiente documentación y del es razonable encontrar interiores y objetos que sirvan de ejemplo, sin que la proximidad temporal de las dos últimas centurias haga inabarcable la tarea.

Hence, a number of enabling examples of historical interiors are offered, drawing on contemporaneous documents and visual material from the 17th and 18th centuries. Given the range and quality of works produced, this is the most interesting period in the history of art in Spain; it is also the period from which a sufficient amount of documents and other materials is extant, thus enabling an exploration of the topic that is not compromised by the two more recent, intervening centuries.
